Appearance and display preferences

Open Settings → Preferences to adjust how the application looks and how much content fits on screen. Check the scope shown on the page before saving: the current appearance controls use Local mode, which affects this browser rather than everyone in the workspace.

Access needed

Access depends on your assigned permissions and workflow scope.

Use personal display preferences and current local appearance editor

Current Local mode is browser-only, not shared workspace administration. No documented server permission for shared appearance saving is asserted; other settings retain their own permission requirements.

Role and permission labels

Typical responsibility: Signed-in account holder. Role names alone do not grant access.

Demo screenshots may show broader access than your account.

Choose your personal display mode

Under Personal preference → Mode, choose Light, Dark or System. This is your own choice and applies immediately. System follows your device's appearance preference. It is separate from the appearance editor's Local mode controls.

Preview an appearance

  1. Start from a preset

Review the preset descriptions and choose the look closest to your needs. Presets combine colors, typography and component styles; backgrounds have separate controls.

  2. Adjust individual controls

Review corner Radius, Button style/behavior/size, Card treatment, Primary color and Font. Primary color affects accents such as actions, links and focus indicators.

  3. Review backgrounds

Choose the sidebar treatment, light background and dark palette as needed. Check the local appearance mode and Live preview before deciding what to keep.

  4. Save locally or discard

When appearance changes are pending, use Save locally and review its browser-only confirmation. Use Cancel to discard the appearance draft. Verify the saved appearance in the same browser.

Use the preview to check readability

The Live preview illustrates cards, buttons, charts and fields. Its employee counts and payroll amounts are sample design content, not current workspace reports. Review contrast, readable text and visible focus indicators when choosing colors and backgrounds.

Reset to preset defaults returns appearance customization toward the preset's defaults. Review the resulting draft and the save/cancel controls; it is not a reset of employee data, permissions or business settings.

Adjust density and content width

Under Density, use Scale to choose Compact, Default or Comfortable. Content width offers Full width or Centred. These display preferences control how the interface feels; they do not change record data, table permissions or employee access.

If a denser view makes text or controls harder to use, choose a more comfortable scale. Keep personal Mode and Density choices distinct from the appearance editor's saved draft.

Workspace name, plan and logo editing are not connected through this preferences screen. Items labeled Coming soon are unavailable here; do not infer that changing an appearance preset configures those features.

Troubleshooting

ProblemWhat to check

A colleague's appearance did not changeThe current save is browser-only.
Customization disappearedClearing browser data removes local settings; check the workspace and browser used.
The live preview shows unfamiliar figuresThey are illustrative design content, not a report.

What was verified

The live Preferences page, Local mode notice, preset/customization controls and lower display controls were inspected in light theme. Three screenshots use the shared viewer. No appearance, density or mode change was saved. Cross-browser persistence and shared appearance syncing were not tested; the page explicitly states backend syncing is unavailable.
