Attendance overview

Attendance records when people work. Daily records hold arrival and finish times; timesheets bring a week's records together for review. Schedules describe planned work rather than proving that someone attended.

Access needed

Access depends on your assigned permissions and workflow scope.

Read your own attendance and weekly timesheet; submit your week

Sign in with an account linked to your employee record. This grants only your permitted own-data scope. Weekly submission/reopening follows status and open-interval rules; no attendance.read permission is required for own reads.

Role and permission labels

Typical responsibility: Employee. Role names alone do not grant access.

Leave-generated records and approved-week locks still apply. Clocking for another employee additionally needs attendance.clock.

Read access, clock actions, management actions, and timesheet approvals have separate requirements. Ask your administrator for the access needed for your task rather than assuming that seeing attendance grants every action.

For employees

Start with Attendance for employees to clock in and out, check your personal records, and review and submit My week.

For HR and managers

Use Daily attendance records to review other employees' attendance and make authorized entries or corrections. Continue with Review employee timesheets for manager and HR decisions. Use Schedules and shifts to prepare and publish planned work.

A typical workflow

  1. Record the actual working time

Employees use the permitted clock actions. Authorized staff can record a manual entry when a correction or missing record needs to be documented.

  2. Review daily records

Check the employee, record date, clock-in and clock-out, status, and source. Resolve missing finishes or incorrect times through the appropriate workflow.

  3. Submit and review the week

Follow the timesheet workflow once the records are ready. Approval locks the week's records, so corrections may need additional coordination.

Understand dates and hours

The daily-record table identifies its Record date (UTC) explicitly. Clock-in and clock-out times are displayed in your device's time zone, so their visible calendar dates can differ from the UTC record date. Use the labeled date filters when investigating a boundary around midnight.

Total hours and overtime are calculated from saved times. An open record has no finished duration yet; zero recorded hours does not necessarily mean no one worked. Overtime uses configured rules and is not simply every hour beyond your expected finish time.

Attendance status is separate from employment status. On Leave attendance comes from approved leave; it is not an employment-status change.
